It all started in 1970 when the JUST family, back then located in the German town of Stuttgart, decided to set up their own business for the production and distribution of Color Light Displays. The basic idea was to manufacture an aluminum light box in a distinct profile - well, that was something new, believe us! Like so many start ups, the initial years weren't easy until we reached the point where the "JUST" name became known for our stylish Color Light Displays as well as our transparency viewers. No one else in the industry produced fine quality industrial lighting products comparable to those from JUST.
Within two years the first real successes began to roll in. Kodak, AGFA and FUJI all started ordering various lighting equipment from JUST Normlicht. The Company grew and new people came on board.
1975 marked the year when JUST really made a breakthrough in sales and marketing. German media giant Burda began ordering Color Proof Lights in the typical asymmetrical version that was invented, designed and manufactured exclusively bu JUST. Other publishers and media conglomerates soon followed: Springer, Bertelsmann, Gruner + Jahr, Spiegel - Westermann.... to the point where they now rely entirely on JUST Normlicht. The name stands for innovative and unique designs combined with highly professional service.
In 1987 our US operations began, believe it or not, on Broadway in midtown Manhattan New York City with just a single key employee. Through the years management and locations have changed occasionally but the quality and design that JUST was known for has remained.
Under the leadership of Mr. Michael Gall JUST Normlicht has become a powerful, innovative for in the printing industry around the globe. In 2004 a revolutionary new lighting system was introduced by JUST at DRUPA 2004, the JUST proofStation with moduLight technology. In 2006 JUST brought to market at Graph Expo the first and only computer controlled viewing booth for soft proofing the JUST colorCommunicator 2. This patented JUST USB Interface has since been added to our proofStation series, moduLight series and the newer Virtual proofStation series. In 2008 JUST Normlicht got the print world talking at DRUPA again with the new prototype JUST LED proofControl viewing booth. In 2009 JUST Normlicht started the new brand GL Optic for light measurement to bring affordable quality light measurement devices to the light manufacturing industry. In 2010 JUST Normlicht introduced the new daylight 5000 proGraphic ISO 3664:2009 replacement tubes that not only comply with the new industry standard for color viewing but also include less than 5 micrograms of mercury per tube making them more environmentally friendly than the previous replacement tubes.
